It talks to your mind and give us something to think. You should understand the World of matrix. If you understand it, you probably began to wonder, and ask is this a true world? or is it just a magic scene  drop in front of our eyes? If you never watch it, watch it right now. you would not regret about it. Trust me. It is arguably one of the best.



The Matrix is a 1999 American science fiction action film written and directed by The Wachowskis brothers. It depicts a dystopian future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality called "the Matrix", created by sentient machines to subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. Computer programmer "Neo" learns this truth and started a journey he never imagined which involves real people have been freed from the "dream world" which created by machines. Film uses fight sequence from wire fu techniques from Hong Kong. The Matrix was first released in the United States on March 31, 1999, and grossed over $460 million worldwide.it received generally positive reviews by critics and praised for its visual effects, cinematography and its entertainment. This film is considered as one of the greatest science fiction movie ever made. Film was added to the National Film Registry for preservation in 2012 and followed by The Matrix Reloaded (2002), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).Also it expand to video games, and animated films.

The Matrix directed by The Wachowski Brothers, Produced by Joel Silver, Written by Wachowski Brothers, and music by Don Davis. Cinematography by Bill Pope, Edited by Zach , while Production companies were Village roadshow Picture, and  Silver Picture and distributed by Warner Bros and Roadshow entertainment. Film Released in March 31, 1999 in U.S.A and April 8, 1999 in Australia with 136 minutes running time which grossed $463.5 millions against its budget  $63 millions.

Plot
Film begins with a hacker named Trinity overpowers police and pursuing by Agents with superhuman abilities where Trinity went to a phone box and vanished. Thomas Anderson is a computer programmer working as a hacker believing there is something wrong with the world, and questions himself what is The Matrix? was contacted by Trinity and confirms that a man named Morpheus can explain its meaning however, the Agents, led by Agent Smith, attempt to prevent them from meeting. But finally Neo meets Morpheus, and confirmed that Neo can learn the truth about reality by choosing to swallow an offered red pill. After doing so he wakes up in the real world weak and finding himself one of countless people connected by cables to an elaborate electrical system. He is rescued and brought aboard Morpheus's hovercraft, the Nebuchadnezzar. Morpheus explains that in the 21st century, war between human and  intelligent machines they had created. 

 When humans blocked solar power they harvest the humans' bioelectricity as a substitute power source. The Matrix is revealed to be a shared simulation of the world as it was in 1999 in which the minds of the harvested humans are trapped where Neo lived. Morpheus and his crew belong to a group of rebels who hack into the Matrix and recruiting peoples as rebels. Rebels he rebels' understanding of the true nature of the simulated reality allows them gain super human abilities. Neo is warned that fatal injuries within the Matrix will also kill one's physical body, and that the Agents he encountered are powerful sentient programs that eliminate threats to the system. With Neo’s abilities Morpheus's belief that Neo is "the One", a man prophesied to end the war between humans and machines.

Crew visited to the Oracle a prophet, where Neo is warned where he has to make 2 choices his or Morpheus's life. Before they can leave the Matrix, Agents attacked to the crew and Morpheus allows himself to be captured believing Neo is the one. Cypher disconnects and murders several crew members , before he is killed by Tank a crew member in Nebuchadnezzar. In the Matrix, the Agents interrogate Morpheus in an attempt to learn his access codes to the mainframe computer in Zion. Neo decided to rescue Morpheus from Agents and Trinity insists she accompany him. He rescued Morpheus and Neo gains confidence in his abilities. Morpheus and Trinity exit the Matrix ,and Smith tries to kill Neo before he exit. Nebuchadnezzar attacked by the machines while Trinity confessing her love for Neo stating  that Oracle told her that she would fall in love with the One. She kisses Neo, and he revives with newfound powers and destroys Smith and leaves the Matrix in time for the ship's electromagnetic pulse weapon to disable the attacking sentinels. Later Neo makes a telephone call in the Matrix, promising the Machines he will show their prisoners "a world where anything is possible". He ends the call and flies into the sky.

Production and filming

In 1994, the Wachowskis presented the scripts for 3 movies which accepted by Warner Brothers. After the critical success Bound, the siblings later asked to direct The Matrix. The Matrix was still a huge investment for Warner Bros, which had to invest $60 million to create a movie with deep philosophical ideas and difficult special effects. To prepare for the wire fu  actors had to train hard for several months. In the film, the code that composes the Matrix itself is frequently represented as downward-flowing green characters, this code uses a custom typeface. All but a few scenes were filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia,. The filming helped establish New South Wales as a major film production center.The principal photography took 118 days. The film is known for popularizing a visual effect known as "bullet time", which allows a shot to progress in slow-motion while the camera appears to move through the scene at normal speed.
Dane A. Davis was responsible for creating the sound effects for the film. The Matrix draws from and makes reference to numerous cinematic and literary works, and concepts from mythology, religion and philosophy. The Matrix also makes reference to the ideas of Buddhism, Christianity, Gnosticism, Hinduism, and Judaism. The Matrix belongs to the cyberpunk genre of science fiction, the film's use of the term "Matrix" is adopted from Gibson's novel. And  most of writers commented on the similarities between The Matrix and the science fiction author Philip K. Dick’s work. The Wachowskis have described 2001: A Space Odyssey is a major influence for making The Matrix.

Reception and Box Office
The Matrix Released in March 31, 1999 in U.S.A and April 8, 1999 in Australia. After its DVD release, it was the first DVD to sell more than one million copies in the US, and went on to be the first to sell more than three million copies in the US. By November 10, 2003, one month after The Matrix Reloaded DVD was released, the sales of The Matrix DVD had exceeded 30 million copies. Film grossed for a worldwide total of $463,517,383 and it became the fifth highest grossing film of 1999 in worldwide it was the fourth highest grossing film of the year.

The Matrix received largely positive reviews from most critics, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest science fiction films of all time. Entertainment Weekly called The Matrix "the most influential action movie of the generation". Rotten Tomatoes reported that 87% of critics gave the film positive reviews, with an average score of 7.6/10, based upon a sample of 139 reviews. At Metacritic, which assigns an average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the film received an average score of 73 upon its DVD release, based on 35 reviews. Like Jonathan Rosenbaum of the Chicago Reader Salon‍ '​s reviewer Andrew O'Hehir reviewed the film negatively.

Awards
The Matrix received Academy Awards for film editing (Zach Staenberg), sound effects editing (John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff, David Campbell, David Lee), visual effects (John Gaeta, Janek Sirrs, Steve Courtley, Jon Thum), and sound (Dane A. Davis). The Matrix also received BAFTA awards for Best Sound and Best Achievement in Special Visual Effects,and in 1999, it won Saturn Awards for Best Science Fiction Film and Best Direction.
